Football is one of Americas passions for good reason. Many people enjoy playing the game just for the sheer fun of it, while other strive to be the best player they can be. Ultimately there are people who become professional players. But no matter your reason for playing, here are some tips to help you improve your game.

Always play safely. Whether you are practicing, working out at the gym, playing a game or even driving to the field, keep yourself safe at all times. Use your equipment right and keep your helmet on your head.

The position of your body when receiving will help determine the success level you achieve. Your shoulders should be angled from the passer. Stay on your toes and be ready to adjust your position to the pass. The better your body positioning, the more likely you will be to see the ball and catch it.

When your child plays football, make sure he wears the proper helmet to avoid injuries. The helmet should have an outer shell made of hard plastic and the padding should be thick. It should also have a face mask thats rigid and a chin strap containing a protective chin cup. The chin strap should always be snug and fastened when playing.

Work on your endurance as a football player, along with all your other training. Ultimately, it doesnt matter how good you are in your position, if you cant be at your best from kickoff until the last second ticks off the clock. Train and practice hard, and keep your endurance on a professional level.

Exercise

Workout on a regular basis. Avoid changing your routine weekly. You can only get the benefits of exercise if you get a good workout and do it several times a week. Dont quit and start new routines all the time.

Make learning a part of your football regimen. Too many people think sports like football is all about being physical. Your brain is just as important. You need to exercise your mind to be able to learn your teams patterns and make split second decisions. Its brains and brawn that are important in football.

A great way to keep yourself in top form for playing football is to run at least 3 miles a day. This is an excellent exercise for your cardiovascular system. When you are near the end of your run, find a hill to run up and down before finishing. This will help increase your strength and play at your best longer.

Try to focus some of your exercises on increasing speed. Do jumping squats to increase the speed of your reflex muscles. Squat down and jump on a step. Stand straight up and then jump back down and into a squat. Repeat this exercise 40 times daily and gradually increase the height of the step.

Nutrition

Nutrition plays a large role in a successful football players life. Football players exert tremendous amounts of energy during practice and games; therefore, it is important to eat enough calories to keep your energy levels at peak performance. Eating a variety of lean proteins and complex carbohydrates help give you the energy you need.

To be the best football player that you can be, proper nutrition to fuel your body is essential. Empty calories from soda and fast food should be avoided. Instead, eat whole grains, proteins, fruits and vegetables to provide your body with the energy it needs to keep you going all game long.

As you can see, there is much to learn about football and how to be a better player. The key to being a great player has as much to do with physical skills as it does with your attitude on and off the field. Use the tips from above to become a better all around player on the field.
